In preparation for the 42nd Vienna City Marathon on 6 April 2025, we are organising several running events in Vienna: the VCM Winter Running Series. These events are a perfect opportunity to meet friends and to boost your motivation and shape.At the event on 2 March, we will be running the "Vienna Calling Half Marathon" with the start on the Reichsbrücke and 5 km and 10 km in the Prater Hauptallee. Free starts lottery
We would like to reward long-term registration & preparation for the Vienna City Marathon. Therefore, as announced, we have raffled off 100 starting places for the race on 2 March among all ‘VCM winter runners’ who were already registered for the marathon or Wiener Städtische Half Marathon at the VCM 2025 by 16 February. The winners will be notified and will receive a refund of their entry fee before the race.
A food truck from RAW Energy will be on site with bowls and drinks. For ‘VCM winter runners’ there is a 2,- Euro discount on site.
Carnival meets running fun - we look forward to costumes and fancy dress! All finishers will receive a doughnut ('Krapfen' - while stocks last).

Get your number on Friday or Saturday - especially if you are a half marathon runner! You can also take the number for another person. This avoids long queues in the morning on race day. There is also a 20% discount offer in the Hervis Store for participants in the VCM Winter Run.

Only use this option in exceptional cases. The Sunday issue is outdoors, regardless of the weather. Expect waiting times.

On the grounds of the Rugby Union Donau Wien close to the start and finish area
Net-timing with RFID chip in the race number. You cannot use your own chip and do not need to rent a chip.
Starting area half marathon
The start is on the Reichsbrücke - directly above the Danube Island.
The start area on the Reichsbrücke can be reached by public transport with the underground line U1, station "Donauinsel" (exit "Donauinsel"), on foot or by bike via the footpath/cycle path below the Reichsbrücke.
Access to the Reichsbrücke is from the Danube Island via the south ramp. There is no access by car and no stopping or parking facilities on the Danube Island and/or the Reichsbrücke Ramp South. Please allow sufficient time for your journey to the start.
Cloakroom storage & transport half marathon
Possibility to leave a clothes bag in a BigBus at the start. Two busses are available on the Reichsbrücke. After the start they will drive to the finish area and will be positioned in Meiereistraße at the entrance to the Rugby Club. Pick up of the clothing bags until 11:30 am. No liability for loss or theft.
The finish of the half marathon is exactly the same place as the start and finish of the 5 km | 10 km runs.
Half marathon runners can therefore also use the grounds of the Rugby Union.
Start & Finish 5 km | 10 km
- We are using the fantastic grounds of the Rugby Union Donau Wien as the home base for the VCM Winter Run - just like the 1st and 2nd VCM Winter Run.
- The entrance is located at Meiereistraße 20, 1020 Vienna, right next to the ‘Hauptallee’ and the Stadionbad car park, with last-minute race number distribution on Sunday, medals, refreshments at the finish, food truck from Raw Energy, award ceremony and a great atmosphere after the run: all in one place!
- Cloakrooms & showers are available for you there.
- Cloakrooms are unlocked. There are no lockers in the changing rooms. No liability for loss or theft. Leave valuables at home.
- The start and finish will be moved from the previous location on Prater Hauptallee a little way towards the Giant Ferris Wheel on the other side of the junction - just like the 1st VCM Winter Run.
Award ceremonies
10:15 am for the top 3 overall finishers in the men's & women's half marathon
12:30 pm for the top 3 overall women and men in the 5 km and 10 km races
No age group award ceremony.

Order: for participants in 5 km and 10 km runs until the closing date of the respective competition together with the registration or via link in your registration confirmation.
The VCM winter running medal is a great souvenir of your run. It is a three-dimensional snowflake and consists of two interlocking wooden parts with a ribbon. The VCM Winter Run medal is manufactured in Lower Austria and made from regional wood. We therefore offer a resource-saving and sustainable memento.
Important: There is no reordering on site! If you would like to receive a medal, you must order it in advance.
The top 3 in the overall standings of each race will receive their VCM Winter Run medal at the award ceremony, regardless of whether they order it or not.
